I had an encounter where I walked into a room that was filled with darkness, lifted up my hand and decreed “by the power of the Holy Spirit I break this curse!”.? I could see these shadowy demonic spirits scatter moving away as the Holy Spirit’s power brought force upon them.
A Threat to Darkness
And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
We want to be a threat to the powers of darkness.? We represent the King of the Kingdom of Light.? We should carry the light of healing, glory and authority of the King that makes evil nervous.? The purpose of the Son of God manifest was to destroy the works of the devil.? Our job description is the same.? There should be times of confrontation against darkness.? If we could see in the spirit realm,? we could see the need for light to shine through us. The power of the Holy Spirit destroys the curse of darkness.
A Kingdom of Power
A powerless kingdom is no kingdom at all. There is no kingdom without power.? Power takes territory.? There is ownership because of the power that is resident in the Kingdom. The world we live in a world of kingdoms.? There are earthly kingdoms, realms of rule.? Kingdoms that are in conflict. It should help us understand that God has a dominion, that there is? a greater spiritual kingdom conflict.? God’s people were created to rule and reign, not to be defeated.? He has plans for us to rule and reign with Him in eternity. But our practice begins now.? We were saved by the power of God and we live by the same power.? The devil hates power because he gets kicked out of places? where he is the strong man.?? God is much stronger and wants to kick him out of? people and places though us.
The Church of Power
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and?healing all who were oppressed of the devil for God was with Him.”
Jesus was the perfect example of how we are to live in the earth.? As a vessel surrendered to the Holy Spirit He demonstrated the Kingdom of God.? He cast out devils by the finger of God.? By the power of the Spirit He took spiritual territory.? He empowered his? disciples to do the same.
“and to make all see what is the fellowship* of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord…”
Through the church God wants to demonstrate His power to make known His? wisdom through manifestation of His power on earth affecting the heavens. It is His wisdom to use imperfect earthen vessels to carry and demonstrate His power.? He uses? humble things to accomplish His will.? He used a stable, a wild man in the? desert, a donkey, a wooden cross and the list goes on and on.? it is the simple?? and sometimes ignored things that God uses to make things happen. He qualifies the called and we are called to be a church of power! ?We need the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Power The Break the Curse
1 Corinthians 4:20
“For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.”
God gives us the power of the Holy Spirit to break the curse.? When we lift our hand against the darkness we have the authority to break every curse of the devil. The curse represents every evil thing that tries to lay hold of us or anyone else because of the fall of man.? When Adam sinned against God, he gave over the authority God had given him.? Through the work of the cross our authority has been restored.? It still remains that we must take authority and break these things through the power of the Holy Spirit. We need to be awakened to the power of the Holy Spirit.? He is our Helper, Comforter and Teacher.? Even more, we need to know Him in His power.? We don’t need another Pentecost. That was an event once and for all.? We need to be awakened to? that surpassing power of what God has already abundantly deposited within us as sons of God.
