Sowing the Good Seed

The first time I taught a bible study, sowing the good seed of God’s Word, I was about 20 years old. Not having a much of a clue of how to do that I just began to find all the scriptures that I could on a subject. The results were so surprising as I can remember people breaking down in need of prayer. It wasn’t anything that I did except for putting His Word out there. God backs up His Word! Ever since then God’s Word has been my standard and absolute for living. There is no other valid option – except to go downhill without it. Make God’s Word the seed you plant in your heart everyday. He will honor His Word!

Life Transforming Seed

God’s Word is quick and powerful – life transforming seed. Our desires for personal transformation are realized as we sow the seeds of God’s word into our hearts. As our motives are to discover His realities, God’s Word is a living and active seed that can continually be planted in the heart.

In a recent dream God was revealing the simplicity of transformation through the seed of God’s Word. The explicit message was that while religion makes everything complex, the power of personal transformation is found in the simple act of planting the Word of God in the heart.

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

Luke 8:11-15

The spirit of religion and the spirit of the world work in tandem with one another seeking to cut off revelation of simple mysteries about the Kingdom of God – even blinding people to the simplicity of these truths Jesus shared. Both religion and the world are in harmony with one another. One falsely represents God while the other is blatant carnality – both are seduced by the spirit of the world. We see this happening in the parable Jesus shares as those who hear the word either have it stolen, fall away or it is choked out because of the cares of life.

When sowing the good seed a good and honest heart is essential to see fruit from God’s Word. As we allow God to work inside of us He is able to bring forth the fullness of His promises. This is why we need honest hearts before the Lord. He can only work when we allow Him in to do the full job. God speaks to us to deal with certain things. It is important that we follow through on these things.

Speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron.

1 Timothy 4:2

Every time that a person resists the instruction of the Lord it makes it that much harder to hear the next time God speaks – until eventually a person does not hear at all. At this point it takes something much more eventful to wake the person up. This is where the conscience is “seared” as with a hot iron – where a person has lost all conviction and understanding of what is right and what is wrong. At this point they have embraced the cycle of living in a “form of godliness” with no power or transformation.

For God’s Word to be effective in our lives we need to come clean before the Lord. Is the Word of God sharp and powerful in your life? Is is producing the fruit of righteousness? Is is facilitating a deeper communion with God’s Spirit? When the heart soil condition is right the sowing process is easy, simple and highly effective!

The Lord always has so much more in store for our lives than we can imagine. There is a cost but it pales in comparison to the glory and adventures that He has in store for us.

Prepare the soil of your heart with transparency, honesty and flexibility as you sow the life-giving seed of His Word today!
