God is not cheap but rather expensive. We are expensive as well as it cost Him the life of His Son Jesus. Although our salvation is a free gift there is a price to following Jesus. After all, Jesus told us that anyone who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for the kingdom.
But Jesus said to him, No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Luke 9:62
What we see is the difference between being saved and being a disciple. I’ve also heard it said, If Jesus isn’t Lord of all then He isn’t Lord at all. With that it is safe to say and better said that discipleship as a believer is not an option but a requirement. Therefore there is a price we all must pay to follow Jesus.
When you hear God will also have the opportunity to obey Him. As we are learning to follow God we must also realize that it is not all peaches and cream. The good news is that as you hear His voice there is innate power within His words to empower you to do what He asks. He has also given us of His Spirit.
If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.
John 14:15-16
God has fresh eternal waters for us to drink from every moment. These waters of the life of His Spirit are needed and cannot be neglected for they are what sustains us in the more difficult times. To be without His Presence is to be on your own – that is definitely not a desire nor an option.
Then he said to Him, If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.
Exodus 33:15
To embrace the new for your life you have to be willing to step into a place that you’ve never been before. You cannot succumb to fear of the unknown, make excuses for not stepping out to walk on the water or hide in your cave of reclusion. We are constantly being challenged to go further, do something different that is outside of our experience and to go farther than ever before. The spirit of mediocrity is destroyed as you step into the deeper waters of the Father’s pleasure. When you live out the heart and plans of God for your life you experience the exceptional life that Jesus lived being accompanied by the Fathers joy over you.
- Yield Your Heart to God
- Say “No” to Fear & Hiding
- Say “Yes” to His Adventure for Your Life
- Say “Holy Spirit Fill Me Fresh”
At age 20 I had to pay to get all of my wisdom teeth yanked out of my mouth. My dentist had me lay down on the typical dental surgery lounge. Then he said a few words to me then I passed out! Next thing I knew I was awake and all my wisdom teeth were gone. The dentist didn’t tell me he was going to knock me out- I had no idea. But it made the process a whole lot easier.
God has the anesthetic of His Spirit that makes things much easier for us. He has told us in advance! We just have to choose to take that anesthetic – drinking of His Spirit. There is a price God calls us to pay but He makes it easier for us – that is His grace!
