Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:6
We are continually being transformed as we behold the face of Jesus, the face of God.When we spend time in His Presence our lives are blessed with the goodness of God. As people created in the image of God we have a natural gravitation and attraction to that which seems good. This is why the goodness of God brings us to a place of repentance.
Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance.
Romans 2:4
With that being said not all want to embrace the cost of God’s goodness so they settle for a counterfeit. Jesus demonstrated the goodness of God that offended the religious and compelled many to follow Him. But He always challenged people bearing the sword of offense because He wasn’t a people pleaser.
To those who have chosen to follow Him He continually calls for a deeper commitment to know Him and to sanctify themselves for His purposes. As we invest ourselves in spending time with the Lord through worship and meditation, He rewards us. God pours into us during the times that we turn our heart completely toward Him. There are many things that fight for our attention, trying to pull us away from the one thing that really matters. With that we have to make an intentional choice and effort to press in for more of the Lord.
We don’t want to live self-conscious lives but live God-conscious. God has created us in such a way that He calls us temples of the Holy Spirit. Just as God filled the temple and the tabernacle in the O.T., that was just a picture of how He wants to fill us and abide in us. Deep calls to deep at the voice of His waterfalls.
Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls;
Psalm 42:7
All Your waves and billows have gone over me.
Our spirit cries out for His Spirit. We can have the right words, religiously correct, that sound like there is a legitimate desire to pursue God and have His best, but many times there is a great chasm between those words and being able to recognize the reality of His glory.
The bottom line is we have to be willing to “take the plunge” and go deeper into His Presence, finding a place of surrender that is beyond the borders of what we have experienced in the past. The natural mind cannot comprehend the things of God for they are spiritually understood.
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:14
