The Ark of His Glory

God’s Glory and Presence is meant to bring blessing and favor to our lives. But how we live and act is very important in whether that happens or not. We cannot take God’s Presence for granted or act in presumption. After the incident where Uzzah was struck down by trying to balance the Ark of the Covenant, King David was distraught and fearful.

And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God. And David became angry because of the LORD’s outbreak against Uzzah; and he called the name of the place Perez Uzzah to this day. David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said, “How can the ark of the LORD come to me?”

1 Samuel 6:6-9

Where the Ark of God caused harm to one, the blessing of God came to another. Because of this incident with Uzzah, Obed Edom had an open door surprise opportunity to receive the Ark of God into his home and was exceedingly blessed in every way.

The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months. And the LORD blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.

1 Samuel 6:11

How important it is for us to make our heart and home a place for God’s glory, His Word, His Life and His Presence! When we consecrate our lives in covenant relationship with God in pure devotion He will bless us beyond our imagination.  Just like Obed Edom, we need a holy fear that involves wonder and the lack of presumption so that we can receive the fullness of His blessing in our lives.

David was frightened when the Lord struck down the Uzzah – but Uzzah did foolishly by doing something that was outside of God’s role for his life.  We never have to fear as long as we don’t try to fulfill a role we are not called to.  We are to be content with the role He has given us – not trying to be something we are not.

We see how God blessed Obed Edom’s house in a supernatural way! As we engage with the whole heart in what the Lord has called us to we will experience just how God really does delight in the prosperity of His servants (Psalm 35:27).

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.  The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous.

Genesis 26:12-13

This is an amazing verse showing the faithfulness of God to Isaac as He did everything without compromise before the Lord.  When we are faithful to Him, living in covenant with His Words He does the same for us – for His promises are “Yes” for all who are His (2 Cor. 1:10). He is a the God Who ever increases! As we abide in Him He causes us to increase with Him.

For Obed Edom, we understand that God’s blessing came just by reason of His Ark being present in his house. This teaches us that when heaven’s glory is present in our lives it is like a magnet that attracts blessing, favor and prosperity – even heaven on earth.  It is the heart of God to bless you and cause you to increase because it is His nature.  It is an essential characteristic of His divine nature – Who He Is.

Align your heart with His Words and allow His Spirit to cause fruitfulness and increase in your life today!
