Jesus said that where two or more agree in asking anything the Father will do it. There is such power in our agreement. Conversely, there is such a lack of power when there is disagreement.
Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
Matthew 18:19
Where there is a disagreement people cannot walk together. If two commit to build something together but they both have different opinions on how it should be built nothing will happen or it will be the ugliest thing you’ve ever seen.
Are two people ever going to agree on everything? No. And that is fine. But when it comes to the things that need built and really matter we must agree on the essentials for things to work. This requires us to recognize what is important and what is not. By doing this we can see who we can walk with and then just focus on that which really matters.
I’ve learned more and more over the years that when you run into a disagreement with someone, you can easily switch the conversation to something that you know you will agree on – then everything is good.
We don’t need to split hairs over things that really don’t matter. Now if what you’re talking about does matter and needs talked about that is a different matter altogether. There is a time to speak the truth in love, but that is not the context we’re talking about today.
We are talking about discovering power as we focus on that which matters – even on earth as it is in heaven. This applies to your family relationships, friends and those who you are called to walk with in life.
Find the things that really matter and that you can also agree on with PASSION!
In that you’ve found a place of powerful agreement. In particular this applies to the truth of God’s Word – this REALLY MATTERS. Some things are rock solid clear in the Bible being foundational to your faith and if you can’t agree on those things go find someone else to walk with. Find someone else to hang out with.
Agreement with God is not an option but an absolute necessity.
Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
Amos 3:3
This is where the rubber meets the road in our lives. When our associations don’t agree with the truth in God’s Word then it is time to find new friends. You can still reach out to people who don’t understand but they can’t be your close friends.
Close friends, in the Lord, should be those you have fellowship with in the Presence of God. Those would be your best friends and family. You need friends that will keep you heading the right direction – to be those who will challenge you to go higher with God as opposed to falling in the way of the world.
Discover authority, power and growth when you align yourself with the truth of God’s Word. Walk in His Spirit, fellowshipping with others who are seeking the Lord as well. You will find that so much of the stuff you struggle with will fall off as you run in hot pursuit of His Presence!
