The Power of Seedtime and Harvest

While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night shall not cease.

Genesis 8:22

From the beginning God set in motion seedtime and harvest. There is a time for us to plant, along with a time for us to reap. This is such a basic thing that God has integrated into the cycle of the earth, yet it is a great parallel to our lives and how we live.

The seed is a picture for us to understand our own lives, our work, our assets, our time, our money and our natural gift. Practically all that we have is a seed to be planted somewhere. When we choose to do something with our time, we are in essence planting the seed of our time in that place.

If everything we have is seed, then how important is it that we use it wisely? We don’t want to waste the good seed that God has given us. But rather, we want to invest it wisely in the right places. If we waste our seed then we will miss out on a harvest.

The Generous Soul

The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

Proverbs 11:25

The generous soul shall be blessed. When we learn to sow generously, instead of being a penny-pincher, we will find the abundance of God’s blessing flowing in our lives. Some of the things we take for granted could be a huge blessing to someone else. We want to learn to devise ways to bless others. God cannot help but bless a person like this.

One of the benefits of having a heart of generosity is that it helps us get out of ourselves. Suddenly we realize it is not about us, but find joy in being a blessing to others. It is also good to realize what things are most valuable to you. When you start to show that which is important to you then you are moving into a greater sacrifice that will yield a greater harvest.

A New Mind

God desires to deliver us from a poverty mindset. It has been said that if you give someone impoverished a million dollars you will find them back in the same problems not long down the road. Give that money to someone wise and they will make more with it. When we learn to be wise with what God has given us then we will discover a life of abundance.

Think about the seeds God has given you to sow into the lives of others. Everything you have is a potential seed waiting to be planted that a great harvest may be reaped. See how you can be a blessing to others with that seed.

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:7

God wants you to believe in His supply.God will get to you what He can get through you. With this you have to be able to receive God’s blessings as well. Posture yourself to receive. Set your heart to give. Get in on God’s cycle of seedtime and harvest for your life.
