A person fat in their spirit, is someone blessed with the spirit of prayer and worship. Did you know that God wants you to be fat in your spirit? So many times in scripture the Word of God connects the anointing with oil or the “fat”. A sign of God’s blessing on your life, more than anything else, is the fatness of your spirit.
They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house;
Psalm 36:8
and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
God has designed us to be a fat people who love the glory of His Presence, the dwelling place of His sanctuary. Since that is the case, “how do we further fatten our spirit in God“? There are many seeds we can sow to develop our spirit man to grow in size and effect. God’s Word is “the seed” that Jesus refers to as being essential to our lives and the health of our spirit. ?As well, worship and prayer are core elements that cause us to grow.
The catch is when these things become more of a “heavy thing” rather than something we joyfully engage in. Let me just say that it should be a joyful engagement. There is a crossroads where our choice to yield to God discovers the joy of worship and prayer. Realize that it is the Father’s joy to spend time with you. This is where we start to enjoy being with Him, realizing that He enjoys us so much.
Try to “remove the boundaries” of time, whether short or long. Just take time being with Him. Let your spirit grow organically before the Lord. As you do, your spirit will begin to fatten up with the oil of joy!
